SnagIt Screen Capture Tool

Until January 7th TechSmith is offering a prior version of SnagIt for free!  

Everyone at Dymaxion has been using this version of SnagIt for a couple of years. We highly recommend SnagIt.

Use this handy software to easily capture a screen region, add a few arrows and paste into PowerPoint, Word, etc or e-mail a suggestion or problem report (or save as a JPEG when building a Web page).

• SnagIt's "region to clipboard" image is also smaller than a [PrintScreen] image
  (tiny 40KB compared to large 2MB).

This visual overview can save significant time; "A picture is worth a thousand words".

SnagIt is Easy to Install

Go to TechSmith to enter your name, country and e-mail address and TechSmith will e-mail you the license key. This page says the offer is for subscribers of .NET UK but we have confirmation from Techsmith stating we have now extended the offer to everyone.

• Download SnagIt version 7.2.5 (note this version is not Vista or Mac compatible)

• Tick that you have a license then paste the license you received where required.

• Our practice is to un-tick the option to add a SnagIt tool bar into Microsoft Office modules.

Once installed Click Tools>Program Preferences "Updater Options" Tab and unclick "Enable automated update checking" since you already know there is a more recent version available :-)

TechSmith also has an equivalent offer for Camtasia, screen recorder for creating demos and tutorials.

We haven't used this yet, but it has excellent reviews!
